Obituary-Stum

Gerald “Mac” Stum, of Severn, Md., passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Md., at the age of 64. Mac was born March 20, 1948, in Martinsburg, to the late Alphonsus M. Stum and Kathryn (Gray) Stum.

He graduated from Shepherdstown High School, in Shepherdstown, in 1966 and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. Mac dedicated 40 years to the Department of Defense, Fort Meade Md., and was an elder at Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church in Odenton, Md. Mac enjoyed camping, traveling the country, photography, gardening and reading, but what he loved most was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Mac is survived by his adoring wife of 44 years, Mary W. Stum; three children, Anthony M. Stum and Kimberly, Kathryn J. Malenfant and Aden and Andrew W. Stum and Carolyn Jaron; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ashley, Courtney, Coleson and Julia; one great-grandson, Ethan; two sisters, Sandra Blackford, of Gerrardstown and Brenda Morrison, of Martinsburg; and two brothers, Michael Stum, of Port Republic, Md., and Robert Stum, of San Francisco, Calif.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church, Odenton, Md. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
