The Peter Burr House is hosting tours and a “Felicity Tea” Saturday, Sept. 8 with an Open House from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and a tea party from 2-4 p.m.

Take a free tour of the oldest wood frame house in West Virginia, built circa 1751. Enjoy refreshments while watching wildlife in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Peter Burr Farm. A Liberty Tea tasting will be available for guests, as well as, a blacksmith demonstration. Additionally, the bread bakers of the Burr House will be baking a limited number of loaves in the outdoor bake oven to sell.

From 2-4 p.m., volunteers at thePeter Burr House would like to invite young ladies and gentlemen to a Tea with Felicity, named in honor of the 18th Century American Girl doll.

Young guests will enjoy making lemonade and pomanders. Like the fictional Felicity at Miss Manderly’s house, the children will have a short lesson in 18th century manners and a dancing lessons followed by delicious refreshments.

The event will be held largely inside the historic house, so space is limited to 10, at a cost of $15/per person; two siblings may attend for $20. A favorite doll or stuffed companion may attend for free, but the doll’s tea service is limited to six, so early registration is advised (one doll or stuffed animal per person, please).
