Shepherd University graduate Nicholas Redding will present an overview of his recent publication “A History and Guide to Civil War Shepherdstown: Victory and Defeat in West Virginia’s Oldest Town” as part of the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of Shepherdstown on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church at the corner of King and Washington streets. Following the presentation, a book signing and light refreshments will be offered in the George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War at 136 West German Street.

Redding is a 2008 graduate of Shepherd where he was a student in the Civil War and 19th Century American program under Dr. Mark A. Snell, director of the George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War. Recently employed by the Civil War Trust, he is the executive director of Historic Long Branch House and Farm in Millwood, Va. Redding will discuss his new book in a talk titled “Like An Awful Dream: Shepherdstown at War, 1861-1865.”
