Shepherd to host Manchin, Raese senatorial debate Oct. 2
Shepherd University’s M.B.A. Program will host a senatorial debate on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Hall in conjunction with Shepherdstown’s 250 Anniversary celebration.
Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Republican challenger John Raese will meet for a 90-minute debate. West Virginia Public Radio’s Cecelia Mason will serve as the moderator. Members of the four-person panel of questioners will include Hans Fogel, WEPM Radio, Martinsburg; Mark Kraham, WHAG-TV, Hagerstown, Md.; Craig Bartoldson, The Journal, Martinsburg and Heather Greenfield, Shepherd University Picket.
Dr. Chip Zimmer, Shepherd’s M.B.A. program coordinator, said that the debate will focus on West Virginia’s economic issues with specific categories including health, energy, jobs, environment and education.
Shepherd President Suzanne Shipley will present the welcome. M.B.A. students participating during the debate include Jennifer Hess, master of ceremonies; Michelle Files, invocation; and Nick Emery, Pledge of Allegiance. Student members of honorary fraternities Delta Sigma Pi and Pi Sigma Alpha will serve as ushers, while members of the Young Democrats and Young Republicans will serve as hosts.
