Wellness Program joins IRB

Bonnie Dorman, Todd Fagan and Jessica Gormont are Jefferson County government staff who took part in Irish Road Bowling in Shepherdstown on Sunday as a way to earn team activity points in the county’s Wellness Program. Each of them covered over three miles running after bowls in Sunday’s score. Their team, the Gutbusters, are competing with nine other county teams in the wellness program, where they track their exercise time, walking miles, diet habits and health checkups. The new program is designed to promote healthy lifestyles, while giving county employees an opportunity to get to know their peers better and get outside, exercise, and have fun.
The weather was perfect for the final event of the Irish Road Bowling in the Eastern Panhandle on Sunday. There were more participants than last year and quite a few repeaters. The first place winners of the trophies were Pat, Eric and Brian Dickman and John McFarland. Second place medal winners were John Nelson, David Powell, Judy Mize and Tom Neville. A total of 17 teams and 61 participants played the game this year.
