The third meeting of the Entrepreneurs’ Cafe will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 14, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Jefferson Room in White Hall at Shepherd University. During the event, five local entrepreneurs will each give a short presentation, to pitch their idea or project for funding. Attendance at the Entrepreneurs’ Cafe is open to all members of the community in the Eastern Panhandle area. The Cafe is an opportunity for the community to learn about new businesses starting in the area and actually take part in investing in their success by voting for the cash award.

“We are thrilled to host the Entrepreneurs’ Cafe at Shepherd University and to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Eastern Panhandle,” stated Caroline Glackin, PhD, assistant professor of Business Administration.

Attendees pay $10 for a simple meal, the opportunity to hear small business development ideas and vote on their favorite project. The winning entrepreneur receives the proceeds from the purchase of meals and a special cash award provided by the sponsor, which for the November Caf is attorney Chris Stroech. More than 40 people attended the October Entrepreneurs’ Cafe. The vote resulted in a tie, and the $800 cash award was divided between Kristen Vogel, Vinyls by Vogel and Than Hitt, WV Community Solar.

The Entrepreneurs’ Cafe program is part of a long-term plan to develop the entrepreneurial climate in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
