First Friday Coffeehouse features duo

By Staff | Nov 23, 2012

First Friday Coffeehouse will feature Dana and Susan Robinson from Asheville, N.C., on Dec. 7. The venue is located at Trinity Orchard House on Route 45, four miles from the four-way stop in Shepherdstown. Doors open for social time and open sign-up at 7:30 p.m. All open mic participants should be there early to get a slot to perform two songs or eight minutes at one of the area’s premier listening rooms.

Dana and Susan Robinson are two guitar-playing, banjo-frailing, fiddle-sawing and harmony-singing interpreters of the American experience. Their unique blend of contemporary songwriting and traditional Appalachian music bring to their performances a deep understanding of Americas musical heritage. Their performances capture the imagination of the audience, evoking a transforming experience that touches on the deepest humanity. They can make folks howl with laughter or hush with poignant reflection as they take them on a journey across America and convey the mystery and wonder of the places they visit.

Dana started touring in 1994 after the release of his first CD. Including his work wife Susan, he has filled eight CDs with mostly original material.

“Many songwriters have been heralded as modern day Woody Guthries or keepers of the American rural spirit, but that mantle might be better entrusted to musicians like Dana Robinson who embody both the heart and the soul of folk music,” said to prominent folk music publication Dirty Linen.

Enjoy a great evening of music and fellowship. Snacks and refreshments served. A $5 – $10 donation per person is requested. For more information, contact Steve Warner at 304-676-4422 or 304-876-2915.
