Library to host special fundraising event

By Staff | Nov 23, 2012

Shepherdstown’s War Memorial Building will host a special fund-raising event sponsored by the Shepherdstown Public Library and the Jefferson County Development Authority on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. Entitled “The One You Feed,” the free, open-to-the-public gathering expects to bring in a wide selection of organizations and individuals to hear about a newly published book of the same title as the event. It is a special kind of book, designed to be used by schools, organizations, families and almost any collection of people working together. Its expressed purpose is to help groups, large or small, to come together around universal values and to share their differences in a structured way that replaces conflict and opposition with increased understanding.

It is the hope of the author, Ms. Victoria Horton, that purchases and donations of the book will be made on behalf of deserving individuals, groups and organizations, allowing copies of the book to be available to all the children, parents and institutions that could benefit from its well-structured process and its inherent wisdom. By arrangement with the author, all proceeds will go toward support of the library. There are a limited number of copies and the suggested price is $50 per book.

The evening presentation will include a modeling of the book’s process using local adults and children and it will be accompanied by a complimentary selection of wine, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, and will feature Wisconsin cheese, courtesy of Chef Scott Anderson of Shepherd University.
