Shepherdstown church maintains 19h century worship tradition
Historic Christ Reformed Church in Shepherdstown will offer the Harbaugh Christmas Service on Christmas Eve at 5:45 p.m. Written around 1834 by the Reverend Dr. Henry Harbaugh, a German Reformed pastor, theologian, and seminary professor from nearby Franklin County, Pa., the service includes the alternate read and chanted gospel narrative according to St. Luke describing the events leading up to and including the birth of Christ. Offered in a setting of seasonal greenery and candlelight the largely musical service includes the sacrament of Holy Communion. Christ Church practices “open Communion,” welcoming all to this service. The church is located at 304 East German St.
