Town poster contest to close Dec. 31
For those who have been meaning to finish a list identifying the Shepherdstown architectural features on the Landmarks Commission’s 250th Anniversary Poster, now’s the time to do it. All contest submissions must be in the office of Historic Shepherdstown by Dec. 31.
The completed keys to the poster should be mailed to: Historic Shepherdstown, P.O. Box 1786, Shepherdstown, WV 25443 or turned in to (or put under the door of) Historic Shepherdstown’s office in Room 200 at the Entler Hotel.
The colorful poster created by Jay Hurley and Jonathan Clingenpeel for the Shepherdstown Historic Landmarks Commission has been on sale at the Visitors Center, the Shepherdstown Museum and local shops for many months. The posters and the key are still available in those venues for last-minute contestants.
The winner of the contest will be the first submission that correctly identifies all the features on the poster. The winner will receive a prize equivalent to $1 for each of the posters sold by Dec. 31. Funds from poster sales already have covered the cost of producing the posters. The rest of the proceeds, in keeping with the historic theme of the contest, will go to the Historic Shepherdstown Museum.
The prize will be awarded at Historic Shepherdstown’s January meeting on Jan. 9, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Entler Hotel, 129 East German Street.
