Audubon program to focus on conservation photography
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor a program entitled “Conservation Photography: Saving the World One Image at a Time” the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 9.
The program will be held at 7 p.m. at the National Conservation Training Center outside Shepherdstown, in Room 151 of the Instructional West Building. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
The speaker will be Wil Hershberger, one of the area’s leading naturalists and nature photographers. His presentation will begin with a review of the role photography has played historically in promoting greater awareness and appreciation for the natural world. He will then focus on the work of the International League of Conservation Photographers, which was established in 2005 to engage leading photographers in advancing conservation efforts worldwide. Finally, he will discuss ways in which local photography and writing groups might take similar steps to meet local conservation needs.
