Happenings at Jala Yoga

Jala Yoga, the yoga studio at Mellow Moods Cafe and Juice Bar, 117 West German Street, will offer an eight-week Yoga and Strength Boot Camp from Jan. 7 through Feb. 28. Boot Camp will meet Monday and Thursday nights, 5:30-6:30 p.m., under the direction of yoga instructor Christa Mastrangelo Joyce and personal trainer Paula Barnes. The cost is $240 for the two months. There are just 12 slots available.

In this program designed to improve ones overall level of fitness, Barnes and Joyce will help students understand how their own bodies move with the ultimate combination of yoga and strength training. There will be a focus on quality of movement, motion, balance, nutrition and getting the most out of one’s workout. The instructors promise an encouraging environment where students will sweat and be sore, but will come away with in-depth knowledge about fitness.

Joyce is the owner of Jala Yoga and recently completed her 500-hour teacher training at Charm City Yoga in Baltimore. Barnes is a certified personal trainer specializing in one-on-one strength training and has a background in law enforcement.
