“What Delights the Eye” exhibit to open
Join The Washington Street Artists’ Cooperative (WSAC) for the opening of the newest exhibit, “What Delights the Eye,” at the gallery in the Charles Town Visitors Center on Feb. 2, from 5 7:30 p.m. The reception with member artists Amy George, Sue Parker and Patricia Perry is free to the public.
The new exhibit of paintings kicks off a year of six scheduled shows through February 2014 in the Fire Hall Gallery that includes WSAC member artists Frank Ceravalo, Gary Bergel, Mary Jo Bennett, Joe Bourgeois, Annette Verna, Bruce Chandler, Joanna Athey, Jewell Hellems and Suzanne Ravgiala in both solo and group shows.
Sue Parker has taken watercolor instruction at the Montpelier Art Center in Laurel, Md., studied oil painting at Hagerstown Community College, the Waynesboro Studio Club and is studying oils with Michael Davis.
Patricia Perry studied under Richard Diebenkorn, Irving Petlin, and Jan Stussy at UCLA, receiving a B.A in Fine Art. After graduation, she worked at the UCLA Art Galleries and the U.C. Berkeley Art.
Amy George started doing pastels when she was a child. For the last several years, she has concentrated on watercolor. George has studied with Catherine Hillis.
Incorporated in August 2011, the non-profit Washington Street Artists’ Cooperative supports both emerging and established artists in its gallery, showing juried work by member artists and artisans. The Co-op gallery is located at 108 N. George Street in the heart of historic Charles Town, WV.
The Co-op’s mission is to provide a space where artists and artisans in the West Virginia Panhandle region can create, teach, exhibit and sell their work and to nurture an appreciation for art in the community.
