First Friday Coffeehouse features Tim Grimm

By Staff | Jan 25, 2013

First Friday Coffeehouse will feature Indiana songwriter Tim Grimm, who brings impressive credentials as both musician and actor, on Feb. 1. The venue is located at Trinity Orchard House on Route 45, four miles from the four-way stop in Shepherdstown. Doors open for social time and open sign-up at 7:30 p.m. All open mic participants should be there early to get a slot to perform two songs or eight minutes at one of the area`s premier listening rooms.

Grimm has won considerable industry recognition for music and as an actor on stage and screen. In the late 1990s, He left Hollywood and a successful acting career (co-starring for two seasons in the NBC drama, Reasonable Doubts and in several films including The Express and Public Enemies), to focus his life on his family and his art. He grew up in the woods and small town settings of southern Indiana, son of schoolteachers and grandson of farmers and his return home was a conscious choice to live a life of significance rather than one predicated primary on monetary success. He now lives with his wife and sons on an 80-acre farm close to where he spent his childhood.

Grimm’s songs are full of the rural rumblings that have shaped his life-rich with descriptive details and sung with warmth and intimacy-recognizing the inextinguishable national romance with the idea of the family farm and the vanishing landscape of rural America. “He masterfully works his words like a farmer works the soil for a deeply involving, superbly crafted harvest of songs …giving the heartland its due. You should do the same for Tim Grimm,” said folk DJ icon Rich Warren.

Enjoy a great evening of music and fellowship. Snacks and refreshments served. Trinity Orchard House is located at 4599 Shepherdstown Road. A $10 donation per person is requested. For more information, contact Steve Warner at 304-676-4422 or 304-876-2915.
