Parks and Rec and FLOC sponsoring The Charge

By Staff | Feb 8, 2013

On Saturday, April 13, Jefferson County Parks and Recreation and For Love of Children (FLOC) will present the first 5K obstacle challenge, The Charge. The event is open to those ages 18 and older at all competitive levels. The theme of the course focuses on Civil War and local history and offers an opportunity to jump over, under and get dirty alongside soldiers and cavalrymen.

Registration for the event is $45 per person before Feb. 22 and $55 before the closing date of April 5.

A free kids fun run will immediately follow the adult event.

Proceeds from The Charge will benefit two local nonprofit organizations: the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission and its mission to provide diverse year-round opportunities by creating and providing recreation, leisure and community services necessary to promote and improve the overall quality of life for the citizens of Jefferson County; and The Outdoor Education Center of For Love of Children (OEC of FLOC) with a mission to facilitate healthy character development for youth and adults in a powerful outdoor classroom.

For information on The charge and to register, visit www.thechargechallengerrace.com or call Jennifer Myers at 304-728-3207.
