Yarnability celebrating one year
When Yarnability opened the door to local knitters and crocheters a year ago, owner Susan Wolcott had no idea that the shop would so quickly become a center for local enthusiasts.
“We’ve been busy every day as more and more people are learning to knit and crochet. Experienced knitters and crocheters are taking advantage of our project suggestions and interesting array of products. For 2013, we’re moving ahead with more projects, events and growth,” she said.
With a mission to serves as the ultimate local yarn store providing premier customer service in a warm, inviting atmosphere with interesting, alluring products and vibrant social and educational programs, Yarnability is all of that. Customers feel comfortable upon entering and enjoy the color and creativity that fills the shop.
“I’m often told that a visit to Yarnability is calming and inspiring. If we can do that for someone, I’m happy,” says Wolcott.
What’s new for Yarnabilitys second year? In addition to more classes and events, Yarnability is hosting the first Yarnability Getaway Weekend March 16 to 17. Nationally recognized teacher-designer Margaret Fisher is visiting and offering two full days of classes. This limited space event is nearly sold out. Nancy Marchant, the “Queen of Brioche
‘, is slated for another Getaway Weekend November 9-10.
“Late spring will be an exciting time at Yarnability as we’re expanding into sewing. We constantly get calls or visits from customers looking for thread, zippers, fabric and such, so we’ve decided to expand into this area. We have the talent and knowledge to do this effectively,” says Wolcott. Yarnability will stock fabric, sewing notions and supplies and offer classes for beginners and other sewers.
“We’ll even have a sewing machine that can be rented by the hour. We’re very excited to be offering this great addition to the artistic community of Shepherdstown,” says Kathryn Bragg Stella, who is working on the expansion project.
With the success of the first year complete, Yarnability is poised to have another great year.
