YATL presents Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.
The Young Actors Theater Lab is excited to announce the next performance on its stage will be Fiddler on the Roof, Jr., part of the MTI Broadway Junior Collection, which features condensed author-approved versions of classic musicals custom tailored to the needs of young actors and audiences.
This production is the result of one of YATL’s Production Workshops, which give participants the chance to learn, first-hand, the elements of creating and performing plays and musicals for an audience. These 8-week workshops for youth ages 8 through 18 include seminars on many aspects of theater, as well as intensive rehearsal time, culminating in seven performances for the public.
Audiences will love Fiddler’s elements of humor and warmth. In the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of a quickly-changing society. The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness. The timeless songs that we all remember are still featured in this abridged version of the show, including Tradition; Sunrise, Sunset; If I Were a Rich Man; and Matchmaker.
Tickets are on sale now though YATL’s website, www.MyYATL.com. All seats are general admission and are available for only $8. Group rates of $5 per ticket are available for groups of 10 or more. The sign-interpreted performance of this show will be on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 7 p.m.
