By Staff | Mar 15, 2013

On Feb. 21, West Virginia celebrated History Day at the WV Culture and History Center in Charleston. Harpers Ferry residents Donald and Dorrene Hale were honored as “2013 History Heroes”. The Hales were nominated by the General Adam Stephen Chapter, National Society Sons of the American Revolution, and Pack Horse Ford Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. This award is presented to individuals who are involved in local history, genealogy, preservation and museum organizations.

Following the ceremony, the honorees were escorted to the State Capitol and were seated in the House Gallery. After the session opened, Delegate Stephen Skinner introduced Mr and Mrs Hale to the members of the House of Delegates as the “2013 History Heroes” from Jefferson County.
