Obituary-Vickers
Mary Catherine Vickers, 79, of Kearneysville, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her residence under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born June 27, 1933, in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Emmert G. Moler Sr. and Florence Amelia (Van Metre) Moler.
Mrs. Vickers was a very loving mother, grandmother and homemaker who took care of her family on a daily basis.
She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Shepherdstown.
She was a graduate of Shepherdstown High School, class of 1951. She was an active member of CEO’S and an active volunteer with the Jefferson and Berkeley County 4-H and Camp Frame.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, L. Elmer Vickers, at home; children, Florence Ann Vickers, of Kearneysville, Charlotte M. Vickers, of Shenandoah Junction, Lawrence E. Vickers III and wife, Debbie and John L. Vickers and wife, Lydia, all of Kearneysville; five grandchildren, Mary Beth Group and husband, Bobby, Larnie Vickers and wife, Samantha, Amy Vickers, Catherine Vickers and Matthew Vickers; two great-grandchildren, Ty Vickers and Kendall Vickers; brothers, Emmert G. Moler Jr., and Eleanor Ann and Fred T. Moler and wife, Helen, all of Martinsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
The Vickers family would like to thank Hospice of the Panhandle, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, family and friends for all your thoughts and prayers.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, with Dr. Fred Soltow officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.
