Susan Carney and Margie Smeller to have shows at TAG

By Staff | Mar 22, 2013

Susan Carney’s solo show entitled “Naturalist Library” opens at The Artists’ Gallery in Frederick, Md., on April 5.

“Whenever I think I am done painting birds,” says the Shepherdstown resident, “a new and interesting discovery comes along. It may be mythological, metaphorical or personal, but birds continue to captivate me, so I continue to paint them.”

In addition, Margie Smeller will have a solo show entitled “Renewal.” A 28-year-old artist with Down syndrome, she is a lifelong resident of Frederick County. Md.. She has always had a keen eye for color, and that is reflected in many of her pieces of art. Most of her work is mixed media on canvas.

Both shows run from April 5-28, along with an exhibit of new work by gallery members. An opening reception for all three shows will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.. TAG, at 4 East Church Street, Frederick, is open Friday-Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Learn more at www.the-artists-gallery.org.
