Obituary-Bucci

Dominick Anthony Bucci died at his home in Shepherdstown on Friday, March 22, 2013.

He was formerly of Rockville, Md., and retired from the Defense Mapping Agency as chief, Department of Cartography.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on July 17, 1916, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he received the American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Longhi and Carmine Bucci; wife, Ella Jane Traverse Bucci; brother, Larry Bucci; son, Donald and wife, Isabel Bucci; and grandson, Douglas Bucci.

He is survived by sons, Robert and wife, Suzanne and Dennis and wife, Lisa; sisters, Lucille Biese, Eleanor Pickering and Evelyn Guderian; sister-in- law, Catherine Lapinski; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchil- dren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, in Charles Town.

A mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at St. Mary’s Church, 520 Viers Mill Road, Rockville, with Father Charles Gallagher officiating, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Caregivers, 7311 Martinsburg Parkway, Shepherdstown, WV 25443 or Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25402.
