Firemen checking detectors
Starting yesterday, Thursday, April 4, members of the Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department have been walking around the Corporation of Shepherdstown going house to house checking smoke detectors. The firefighters are wearing identifying clothing. They are checking to see if the smoke detectors are functional and will provide batteries if needed. If a residence does not have a smoke detector, one free smoke detector and battery will be installed. This activity will take place through Saturday. Additional information can be obtained by calling the Fire Department at 304-876-2311.
