Every Saturday this April will be eventful for Shepherdstown as Morgan’s Grove Market will aim to show off some of Shepherdstown’s best vendors. Morgan’s Grove Market is an open market place for Shepherdstown’s local farmers, bakers, chefs, artists, crafters and musicians to promote, display and sell their locally grown or made products. The market is arranged expedite the merging of Shepherdstown’s growing healthcare and local food markets.

For Shepherd University student Jamie Long, the market is a great way to begin the spring season.

“My friends and I went to the market last time and we had such a blast! It was great to experience a connection with all of the local Shepherdstown businesses as well as the delicious foods and spring weather,” Long shared.

Their aim is to promote maintaining the health, economic and environmental well being in local communities, by supplying the appropriate atmosphere in order to educate the consumer on improving personal health and the businessperson a breeder that removes obstruction to access into the food and health industry. April is the month to experience the unity between good food and health, community and businesses; and the journey to an overall healthy way of life and the necessary assets to succeeding at it.

For Shepherdstown resident and student Jessica Sonders, the market is one of the best ways to experience the community.

“I like to take my daughter to see the animals from Chloe’s Farm Friends and it’s always great to wonder about and experience the liveliness and great foods and crafts that Shepherdstown has to offer. I always tell visitors to come out to events like these so that they can truly experience the atmosphere Shepherdstown has to offer,” Sonders commented.

In order to aid their focus, Morgan’s Grove Market will be offering fresh, local meats, produce, Wisteria pre-made meals, mushrooms, seedlings for spring gardening, herbal teas, Hypnocoffee, Trickling Springs dairy products including yogurt and cheese, and a variety of culinary herbs. The market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and will feature many local vendors.

Chloe’s Farm Friend’s Pet and Play will be appearing for fun times with many barnyard animals. Stony Ridge Farm offering organics salad greens, seed potatoes, seed onions, organic and heirloom garden seeds, hand mixed potting soil while Berkeley Home Tech and Sol Hollow Farm will offer seedlings, herbs, flowers, spinach and lettuces, and Baltimore Style accordion window screens. Limekiln Road Woodwords will have handcrafted birdhouses and decorative carvings while Jodi’s Soap Box offers artisanal soaps and personal care items. Morgan Academy Children’s crafts will also be featuring seed socks as Susie Wimer’s Fresh Baked Pies and Goodies and Sugar Rush offer sweet treats. Blue Ridge Community Technical College will also appear with fresh baked bread.

On April 13, the market will feature the Chicken Workshop and Chicken Sale. A Potato Container Planting Workshop will also take place on April 20. Earth Day and Terrarium Garden Crafts with Morgan County take place on April 27. The market is located at 3988 Kearneysville Pike.
