Nominations sought for Women of Distinction program

By Staff | Apr 12, 2013

The Women of Distinction is an opportunity to celebrate outstanding women leaders in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and to foster awareness of the community initiatives provided by Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital. Nominations are open to the public and businesses, organizations and individuals are encouraged to submit a nomination today! There are so many women who do great things in their lives and this is our chance to recognize their accomplishments in a very special way.

At this special luncheon to be held in September, three women from the Eastern Panhandle who have distinguished themselves as outstanding role models for girls and women through their achievements will be honored.

The following are guidelines to follow when nominating a candidate.

When submitting a nomination, please consider current or former residents of Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties. It is not a requirement for the nominee to have been a Girl Scout.

In addition to professional accomplishments and leadership qualities, nominees will be considered by length of volunteer service, diversity of volunteer experiences and volunteer service that is different from their careers.

Atwo-page summary should include the following: Nominee’s three most outstanding professional and community contributions, including leadership roles; her three top honors; a paragraph noting how she serves as a role model to girls; and her training and educational background. Only complete applications will be considered.

Is there anything else the Committee should know about the nominee? Please submit information on the Nomination Form by May 10, to Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, 153 McMillan Court. Martinsburg, WV 25404-6316.
