Donald R. Griffith, 79, of Scrabble Road, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, in City Hospital.

Born February 16, 1934, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Ralph Ezra Griffith and Ruth Virginia (Welch) Griffith.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a member of Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church. He retired from V.A.M.C., where he was a truck driver for 29 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Tabler; son-in-law, James Tabler Sr.; sister, Geraldine Griffith; and a brother, Bruce Griffith.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Asako (Matsumizu) Griffith; five children, Debra Tabler, Karen Griffith, Patricia Barrett and her husband Richard, Wayne Griffith, and his wife, Kimberly and Lisa Wright and her husband, James; a sister, Louise Brady and her husband, Bob; an uncle, William Welch; and 10 grandchildren, J.R. Barrett, J.T. Tabler, D.D. Barrett, Matt Barrett, John Paul Tabler, J.W. Wright, Ben Wright, Brandi Griffith, David Grove and Sarah McKinney.

He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Rosedale Funeral Home with Dr. G. Edward Grove officiating. Interment, with military honors, followed in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church, 4622 Scrabble Road, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.
