Eidolon hike set for April 21
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor an interpretive hike at the Eidolon Nature Preserve in Morgan County on Sunday, April 21.
The hike will begin at 10 a.m. and be led by the preserve’s caretaker, Joe Gentile. It will be free and open to anyone with an interest. Children will be welcome. No pre-registration will be required.
The hike will focus on signs of spring. The Eidolon property, which is 354 acres in size, includes some impressive stands of redbuds and many different kinds of wildflowers. Migrating warblers should be arriving around this time.
The preserve is located at the top of Sideling Hill Mountain, on Orleans Road, southwest of Great Cacapon. Detailed directions can be found on the Society’s website at www.potomacaudubon.org.
Hike participants should wear sturdy walking shoes or boots, dress appropriately for prevailing weather conditions, and bring along water and bug spray.
