By Staff | May 17, 2013

Shepherd University’s Martinsburg Center has hired two new staff members.

Sherry Donovan, of Hagerstown, Maryland, will serve as a program specialist, assisting with student recruitment and admissions, financial aid, registration and business processes for the Martinsburg Center. Donovan earned an associate of science degree in business administration and an associate of arts in psychology from Hagerstown Community College (HCC) and a bachelor of science degree in sociology from Frostburg State University’s Hagerstown campus. She worked as an admissions representative for HCC from 2001 to 2010 and most recently as a recruiter/advisor for HCC’s Alternative Energy Technology program.

Chelsea Barker, of Kearneysville, will serve as a program assistant. She will be the first point of contact for visitors to the Martinsburg Center and will provide administrative support. Barker graduated from Shepherd University in May, earning a bachelor of science degree in sociology.

“Sherry and Chelsea will be instrumental in preparing for the opening of the Martinsburg Center this summer,” said James Klein, center director. “Their outreach to potential students and the assistance they will provide in the enrollment process will provide a smooth transition for the Center’s first group of students.”

Shepherd’s Martinsburg Center, which will open this summer at 261 Aikens Center, off Edwin Miller Boulevard, will provide degree programs for working adults. Initial degree offerings include the Regents bachelor of arts degree; bachelor of science in nursing (R.N. to B.S.N. track); master of business administration with concentrations in accounting, health care, public management, and sport management; and master of arts in curriculum and instruction, multi-categorical special education concentration (pending approval by the West Virginia Department of Education).
