St. James School honors students

Two students from Shepherdstown received these prizes from the Saint James School in Hagerstown, Md. on June 1.

The Dr. V. Milton Reichard Middle School Science Prize, the Latin Prize and the Ancient History Prize were awarded to: Drake Donovan Marshall, Shepherdstown (Grade 9). Drake is the Mr. and Mrs. Donn E. Marshall.

The United States History Prize, endowed by Mr. Simms A. Jamieson, and one of two Fields Prize Scholarships, endowed in memory of Ambassador Louis G. Fields, Jr., were awarded to Nicole Marie Jenkinson, Shepherdstown (Grade 11).

The Fields Prize is given to two juniors who have distinguished themselves as scholars, persons of high character and courage, and examples of good within the Saint James community. The prizes are awarded by the vote of the faculty. In order to be eligible, a student must have achieved honors or high honors, participated in a well-rounded program of extracurricular activities and be viewed by the faculty as generally positive and helpful in their relationships. The $5,000 scholarships afforded by this endowment are applied towards boarding tuition in the senior year. Nicole was also inducted into the Cum Laude Society in May 2013. In addition, on June 2nd, as part of the school’s Commencement, Nicole was announced as a senior prefect for 2013-14 by vote of students and faculty. Nicole is the daughter of Mr. James H. Jenkinson and Dr. Wanda T. Rackowski of Shepherdstown.
