Obituary-Kohlhurst
Martha E. Kohlhorst, 87, of 811 West Jay Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at her residence after a brief illness.
She was born September 18, 1925, in Saint Marys, the daughter of John and Edna (Clark) Weadock.
She married Marlin Kohlhorst on August 14, 1943, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys. She and Marlin would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on that day.
She is survived by her children: Allyn (Gail) Kohlhorst of Harper’s Ferry; Lynn (Diane) Kohlhorst of Greenville, Ohio; Marlene (Michael) Rutschilling of Saint Marys; by five grandchildren: Mark (Melinda) Kohlhorst; Amy Kohlhorst; Jason (Tracy) Miley; Kendra Elshoff; Jennifer (Phillip) Perrotte. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Amanda; Tannar, Mariah; Madison; Katelyn; Kamille; Parker; Sawyer; Emily and Megan.
Martha was preceded in death by her ten brothers Bernard, Lewis, Allyn, Walter, Thomas, Jerome, Philip, John, Vincent, and Paul Weadock; by one sister, Miriam Schallenberg.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and by one daughter, Mary Kohlhorst.
Martha was a 1943 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She had worked 12 years at the Saint Marys Hardware Store.
Martha loved life and was a wonderful homemaker and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Martha and Marlin took great pride in their yard and flowers. They were charter members of the Tri-Square Dance Club. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys.
Funeral rites were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, the Reverend Bill Maki and Pastor Josh Andrew, officiants. Burial followed at Elm Grove Cemetery.
