5K race starts off Dogfest

By Staff | Aug 9, 2013

The first event of the upcoming Aug. 17-18 Shepherdstown “DogFest” will be a 5K race through the Shepherd University campus.

The “DogDay 5K” will start at 10 a.m. Saturday at the corner of King and High streets. Runners may register there beginning at 8 a.m. The registration fee will be $20.

The race will be self-paced so anyone at any fitness level can participate. The course will wind through the university’s east and west campuses and include seven exercise stops along the way.

The race is sponsored by the Mud Dogs of Shepherdstown and Shepherd University. Proceeds will go to the Shepherd University Foundation and Shepherdstown’s new BEST (“Better Experiences for Shepherdstown Tourists”) group, which is organizing events like the DogFest.
