Dogfest to include hot dog eating contest
The upcoming Aug. 17-18 Shepherdstown “DogFest” will include a Saturday afternoon hot dog eating contest. The contest will be held at 2:30 p.m. on King Street in front of the Town Hall.
Contestants will compete in three age brackets: Pups (ages 10-13), Salty Dogs (14-49) and Big Dogs (50+).
Anyone may enter but the number of contestants will be strictly limited and registration will be essential.

Each contestant must pay a $5 registration fee and sign a liability waiver.
All contestants will be given five minutes to eat a dozen hot dogs and buns. The winner in each age bracket will be the individual who finishes first or eats the most hot dogs and buns with the allotted time.
The following cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age bracket: first place, $25; second place, $15; third place, $10.
The master of ceremonies for the contest will be local stand-up comedian Mike Diesel.
