Obituary-Boor

Jeanne Hook Boor, 85, of Lovingston, Va., and formally of Romney, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, in Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Born June 28, 1928, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Earl Hook and Mamie Rose Martin Hook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Andrew Boor, in 1997; two sisters, Betty H. McCoy and Patricia H. Dick; a brother, Robert E. Hook; and a son-in-law, Timothy Smith.

Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed gardening, canning, taking care of others and writing letters.

Jeanne is survived by five children, Kathy Russell and husband, Vaughn, of Martinsburg, Larry Boor and wife, Sandi, of Homosassa, Fla., Rick Boor and wife, Audrey, of Winchester, Va., Nancy Smith, of Springfield and David Boor and wife, Christy, of Lovingston, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Kent Waldeck and wife, Stephanie, of Shepherdstown, Kelly Waldeck, of Martinsburg, Kevin Waldeck, of Shepherdstown, Mike Boor and wife, Kim, of Martinsburg, Jessica Boor and Karen Boor, of Norfolk, Va., Justin Boor, of Ocracoke, N.C., Jennifer Bryan and husband, Shane, of Ocracoke, N.C., Laurie Marker and husband, Matt, of Sringfield, Missy Hutzler, of Cumming, Ga., Travis Boor and wife, Candy, of Lovingston, Andrew Boor and wife, Marie, of Danville, Va., and Jon Logan Boor, of Lovingston, and soon in the U.S. Army; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Chris DeHaven and husband, Gene, of Okeechobee, Fla.; three brothers, Sonny Hook, Bill Hook and wife, Margie, and George Allen Hook and wife, Margie, all of Cumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service wasconducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Remington Baptist Church, 203 East Marshall St., Remington, VA 22734, with the Rev. David M. Blevins officiating. Interment followed at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, Va.

Jeanne’s request was that flowers be omitted and that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Giving Hope Foundation, 80 Village Road, Shipman, VA 22971.
