Jerry S. Wayt died July 31, 2013, at his home in Shepherdstown. Mr. Wayt was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Sac City, Iowa. He was a product of Iowa public schools and graduated from the University of Iowa. He was an enthusiastic Hawkeye fan throughout his lifetime.

Mr. Wayt was a veteran of the United States Army, serving five years of active duty, primarily as a helicopter pilot in Alaska.

His widow, Ann Leo Wayt, passed away Aug. 5, 2013.

The couple are survived by a son, Mark W. Wayt, both at home; one granddaughter, Samantha Actis; and several siblings, nieces and nephews.

Wayt was preceded in death by his daughter, Chris Bosse.

Funeral services will be private. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle.
