First Friday Coffeehouse will kickoff an eighth season of live folk and roots music on Sept. 6 with The Big Open Mic fundraiser at Trinity Orchard House on Route 45, four miles from the four-way stop in Shepherdstown. Doors open for social time and sign-up at 7:30 p.m. All open mic participants should be there early to get a slot to perform 3 – 5 songs at one of the area`s premier listening rooms. Newcomers are most welcome.
Subsequent First Friday Coffeehouses will have a feature performer chosen from nationally-touring roots/acoustic artists, preceded by a one hour open mic. The venue is well-known for the high quality of entertainment. Performers representing a wide variety of roots genres come from all over the region and the United States. They perform for an attentive audience of music fans and fanatics. Several artists have commented that the venue is one of the best they have played at and an excellent opportunity for showcasing their talents. First Friday Coffeehouse is a not-for-profit venture in partnership with Trinity United Methodist Church in Martinsburg. All proceeds go to feature artists and to help pay operating expenses.
Enjoy a great evening of music and fellowship. Snacks and refreshments served. A $5-10 donation per person is requested. For more information, contact Steve Warner at 304-676-4422 or 304-876-2915. Also check www.myspace.com/firstfridaycoffeehouse.
