Fresh Feast raises funds for Rotary

Members of the Charles Town Rotary served as wait staff for a ‘Fresh Feast on the Farm’ held Saturday at Clay Hill near Ranson. More than a dozen of the club’s members served dinner to nearly 60 guests at the historic farm.
Fresh Feast on the Farm is a unique dining experience highlighting delicious, locally produced foods served in beautiful farm settings throughout Jefferson County. Clay Hill Farm, owned by the Strider family, serves as home to Bill Strider.
Strider chose to open the historic home that has been restored, for the event in an effort to raise funds for the Rotary Club, of which he is a member. Ten percent of the evening’s proceeds will be given by the club to international projects.
Fresh Feast events feature a multi-course meal that varies with the seasons. The dinner included lemon roasted chicken, stuffed peppers, garden salad, potatoes, baked apples and braided bread, all prepared by Fresh Feast owner Jane Tabb. Served up for dessert was pumpkin pie and apple cake, topped with homemade whipped cream.
Fresh Feast on the Farm possesses several distinct features. Ten percent of each event’s gross revenues are donated to a non-profit organization that serves as the volunteer wait staff. The host farm also received 10 percent of the gross revenues.
