Taste of Home a success in Ranson

By Staff | Oct 14, 2013

The annual Taste of Home Cooking School, sponsored by The Journal, made its way to Jefferson County on Oct. 3 at the Ranson Civic Center. Despite some uncomfortably warm temperatures due to the unusual heat wave, the show was a huge success..

The popular event offered cooking demonstrations that included new recipes and time saving tips and tricks. A kitchen was set up in the Civic Center and food prepared on site for the show. All appliances were supplied by Orsini’s Appliance Sales and Service which was a major sponsor of the show. Also sponsoring the event were Martins Food Stores and Parsons Kia.

The door prizes given out during the evening were gathered from all types of local businesses and included kitchen items, gift certificates, baskets and bags of groceries. The top prize winner for the event received a washer and dryer, courtesy of Orsini’s. Denise Ridgely, of Martinsburg, was the lucky winner of the appliances. This was Ridgely’s first time attending at Taste of Home Cooking show.
