Community helping others
The towns of Bolivar and Harpers Ferry are once again sponsoring the “Hearts for Hungry” Thanksgiving food drive to benefit the Jefferson County Community Ministries. From now through Nov. 18, individuals who wish to help this cause may drop non-perishable items for Thanksgiving dinners at several locations in and around the towns. Locations include Friendship Fire Station, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Bolivar Community Center, Harpers Ferry Town Hall, St. John’s Episcopal Church and Harpers Ferry Middle School.
The project is truly a community event and donations are not encouraged from those in and around the county as well as in the two towns. The need for assistance to county families has continued to grow over the past few years and all help is greatly appreciated. For those who may wish to donate monetarily, checks may be mailed or dropped off to Mayor Bob Hardy at Jason’s Antiques in Bolivar.
