Area singers to offer concert

By Staff | Dec 6, 2013

The adult Living Springs Chorale and the Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir offer the Winter Concert, “Season of Light” followed by a reception Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. in the Berkeley Springs High School Auditorium, 149 Concord Avenue in Berkeley Springs.

Choral selections sung will be diverse and traditional, sacred and popular-including “Welcome the Child of Light”: with Celtic flavor, urges we welcome the Child of Light; strains of “What Child Is This?” and “Gloria in Excelsis Deo” weave in and out of the score.

Also offered will be “We Are Lights”: powerful and lyric, written by renowned composer Stephen Schwartz; “Candlelight Carol”: beloved Christmas lullaby by noted English composer, John Rutter; “Frosty and the Hand Jive”: the seasonal favorite “Frosty the Snowman” with a 1950’s spin; and “Let It Snow, Let It Snow! “: the adult and youth choirs add extra fun to this favorite with a swing feel.

The concert, “Season of Light” is the winter musical offering of the nonprofit community organization The Community Choir, Inc. The concert is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $2 for students. This year’s concert marks the fourth year The Community Choir has offered a holiday concert to the public.
