Shepherdstown continues its annual Christmas celebration. The full schedule follows below. Most events will be free; those that will require an admission fee are marked on the schedule with an asterisk (*).

In addition to scheduled events and activities, the town’s restaurants will offer holiday fare and many shops will be open late on Fridays and Saturdays. The town’s regular shops will be supplemented by two special holiday marketplaces that will be open throughout the period: one at the War Memorial Building offering art, home dcor, seasonal items, specialty foods, clothing and jewelry; and another at the Entler Hotel offering wreaths, holiday food, bird houses, pottery, soaps, clothing and candles.

There will be free parking in all the metered spaces in Shepherdstown on Dec. 7 and 8. There will also be free parking from Dec. 14 through Dec. 25. In addition, free parking will be available weekends in Shepherd University parking lot “A” at High and Princess streets, one block from downtown.

Friday, Dec. 6

2:30-3:30 p.m. Music: Shepherdstown Middle School Chorus performance. In front of Library, 100 West German Street.

4-7 p.m. Art Market sponsored by Shepherd University’s Department of Contemporary Art and Theater. Students, faculty and alumni will be selling original and unique prints, drawings, photos, crafts and more. Room 112 of the Center for Contemporary Art on the University camps.

4:30-7:30 p.m. “Old Tyme” Christmas Dinner* at the Shepherd University Dining Hall on the University campus. (Admission $4-$8.)

7-11 p.m. Annual Rotary Charity Gala.* At the Shepherdstown Fire Hall. Proceeds benefit various local charities. (Contact Rotary at 304-264-7919 for ticket information.)

Saturday, Dec. 7

10 a.m. Annual Jingle Bell Jog (Registration at 9:00 a.m.). A 5K run through town. Dress in festive attire. Fundraiser for Candy Cane Express, so bring new toy as entrance fee. Shepherd University Wellness Center, 164 University Drive.

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Roasted chestnuts. King and German streets.

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Trinity Episcopal Church Annual Cookie Walk. Includes craft Fair, soup and BBQ. Corner of German and Church streets.

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Bunker Hill Model Train Exhibit. Santa will be present from 12 noon-3:00 p.m. Shepherdstown Train Station, 100 Audrey Egle Drive.

11 a.m. Annual Christmas Parade. German Street, from Church to Princess streets.

11 a.m.-5 p.m. Historic Shepherdstown Museum. One of Shepherdstown’s major historic icons will be open. Santa will be present, along with storytellers, from 12 -2 p.m. 129 East German Street.
