Ronda Lehman, of Harpers Ferry,has pre-filed to run for the Jefferson County Commission in the Harpers Ferry magisterial district.

Lehamn, a Democrat, currently works for the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle as the Teen Court Coordinator for Jefferson County. A nurse for 25 years, she also owns a small business as a legal nurse consultant. Lehman is active locally in the blue Ridger Watershed Coalition and with several booster organizations at Washington High School.

“I love this county where my husband and I chose to raise our children. Since moving here, I can’t imagine living anywhere else,” Lehman said. “Should I decide to file for the seat, it would be my honor to serve the residents of Jefferson County. Over the years, I have seen citizens come together to support one another and work toward the betterment of our county. This sense of community has struck a passion in me to take a more central role in working to make Jefferson County a place where my children and my neighbors’ children will choose to someday raise their own families.”

Lehman will decide in January whether or not to pursue the County Commission seat.

“I am speaking to members of the community to help me make my final decision,” she said. “Listening to all the hopes and concerns for the future of our county is both daunting and inspriing. I feel I have the energy and the grass roots connections to do this job well, but it is nothing to rush into and I will need a few more weeks to decide.”

The Harpers Ferry seat n the commission is currently held by Democrat Lyn Widmyer, who has yet to make a public announcement as to whether or not she will run for re-election.
