January offerings at Jala Yoga

By Staff | Jan 6, 2014

Jala Yoga, the yoga studio at Mellow Moods Cafe and Juice Bar, 117 West German Street, invites all to begin the New Year with yoga. Two opportunities in January offer something for every level of practitioner.

On Saturday, Jan. 18, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Jala Yoga hosts an informational open house for its Yoga Teacher Training Program. Any yoga practitioners interested in becoming certified yoga teachers or simply in deepening their practice are invited to come to this open house to learn more about Jala’s program. There is no cost to attend the open house. The 200-hour teacher-training program, an affiliate program of Charm City Yoga in Baltimore, begins in March 2014 and runs eight weekends through November. Jala Yoga owner Christa Mastrangelo Joyce directs the training, which covers the study of yoga’s physical postures, as well as breathing techniques, anatomy, meditation, and philosophy.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., yoga instructor Whitney Ingram teaches Vinyasa Basics for those who are new to yoga or those who want to refresh their practice. Whitney will cover the fundamentals of a flowing yoga practice, including sun salutations, and will discuss how to begin a home practice. The cost is $20 and the workshop is limited to just 15 students.

For more information about these opportunities and to register for the workshop or teacher training, go to www.jalayogaflow.com, call 401-440-0279, or email jalayoga.christa@gmail.com.
