RESA 8 provides conscious discipline training for pre-kindergarten professionals
Over 170 Teachers and Classroom Assistants from RESA 8 and Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan County schools joined together for training in Conscious Discipline conducted by national trainer Mandy Lloyd. She shared how utilizing appropriate early childhood discipline practices is critically important for children ages 3 to 5 who are participating in a classroom environment for the first time.
For example, many children who have been at home with parents since birth may experience separation anxiety. This anxiety might lead to feelings of anger, fear, abandonment, and may sometimes result in aggressive and atypical behavior. An inappropriate adult response may affect a childs feelings toward everything and everyone in the new environment. Conscious Discipline provides children with the tools to develop self-regulation, problem-solving abilities, and social emotional skills. The training provided strategies and methods which can be utilized both in the classroom as well as at home.
