Local writer’s short stories available on Amazon
The first five short stories to be anthologized by local writer Maggie Wolff Peterson are now live in print on Amazon.com, in the collection, “Cassoulet and Other Stories.”
The stories include selections that have been published previously in literary magazines, and stories that before this, were unpublished. The stories take the reader from the surprising tranquility of homelessness to the hard realities of betrayal and confinement. One of the stories, “My Desdemona,” was presented last year at an event hosted by the literary magazine 5Quarterly in New York, where Peterson was invited to read it aloud.
Peterson’s began her career in newspaper journalism, with work published in newspapers including the Washington Post and New York Times, and national magazines including Women’s Day, Newsweek and E, the environmental magazine. Locally, she has contributed to newspapers including the Winchester Star, Northern Virginia Daily, Martinsburg Journal, Spirit of Jefferson and Shepherdstown Chronicle, as well as to regional arts and living magazines. Her more than three decades in journalism bring observational clarity and substance to her characters and storytelling. She began writing fiction about three years ago.
