Charles Town tree walk set

By Staff | Feb 28, 2014

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor a late winter Tree Walk along the streets of Charles Town on Saturday, Mar. 1. The walk will be led by local arborist Shawn Walker. Participants will meet at 10 a.m. at the library

The walk will last about two hours. It will offer a close-up look at the town’s diverse tree population, with a special emphasis on evergreens. The emphasis will be on identifying species by bark, branching habits, and other winter characteristics.

There will be a prize for the winner of a tree-height guessing challenge.

The event will be free and open to the public but space will be limited and pre-registration is essential. To pre-register or get more information, go to the PVAS website. For more information, contact Kelly Wolf at kheldreth@hotmail.com or 304-229-6229.
