April 9 deadline to apply for Entrepreneurs’ Cafe Micro-Funding
The next meeting of the Entrepreneurs’ Cafe will take place on Wednesday, Apr. 23, in the Jefferson Room, White Hall, Princess Street, at Shepherd University.
Applications to be a presenter will be accepted through Apr. 9, and are available at www.facebook.com/EntreprenuersCafeShepherdstownEasternPanhandle or by emailing David Rosen at rosend@gmail.com. Entrepreneurs seeking help with strategizing their presentations can contact Sheila Vertino at sheilavertino@yahoo.com.
Attendance at the Entrepreneurs’ Caf is open to all members of the community in the Eastern Panhandle area. At each Caf, attendees pay $10 for a simple meal, and the opportunity to hear five business owners “pitch” their idea or project for funding. At the end of the event, all attendees vote on their favorite project. The winning entrepreneur receives the proceeds from the purchase of meals, raffle tickets and sponsorships. The host for the Apr. 23 Caf is Shepherd University, which is providing the food for the event.
Close to 60 people attended the February Entrepreneurs’ Caf, co-sponsored by the Eastern Panhandle Entrepreneurs Forum. The winner was Sarah Schottler, Blakeley Street Bakery, a small, independent bakery begun in 2012 that bakes and decorates cookies – or as Schottler describes them, “edible little works of art” for any occasion.
Limited sponsorship opportunities are available for 2014, by contacting David Rosen at rosend@gmail.com. The Entrepreneurs’ Caf program is part of a long-term plan to develop the entrepreneurial climate in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
