Audubon nature sketching workshop on Apr. 6
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor a Nature Sketching Workshop at CraftWorks in Jefferson County on Sunday, Apr. 6, from 1 – 3 p.m.?
It will be taught by Susan Brookreson, of Martinsburg, who is an experienced arts educator and Master Naturalist. It will be aimed at those with little or no drawing experience although all skill levels will be welcome.
Everyone is welcome but pre-registration is essential and a fee will be required.
Easy pre-registration is available on the PVAS website at www.potomacaudubon.org. The fee will be $15 for PVAS members and the general public and $10 for members and students of the Society’s Potomac Valley Master Naturalist Program.
The workshop is part of Potomac Valley Audubon’s “Natural History Workshop” series. It will focus on teaching drawing techniques that quickly capture as much information as much information as possible about subjects being observed in nature.
This type of drawing is routinely used by field biologists. In addition to providing a valuable record of field observations, it helps everyone to see the beauty and complexity of nature in more detail.
If weather permits, some drawing will be done outside; participants should therefore dress accordingly.
They should also plan to bring their own pencils and a small portable sketchpad.
