First Friday welcomes Friction Farm

Friction Farma husband and wife team from South Carolinawill bring their innovative, contemporary folk stylings to First Friday Coffeehouse, April 4. Doors open for social time and open mic sign-up 7 p.m. Open mic starts at 7:30 and is on a first come first serve basis. Eight performers have the opportunity to do two songs (eight minutes each) in front of an attentive audience in one of the area’s premier listening rooms. The feature goes on stage around 9 p.m. for an hour set. Please note the new, earlier starting time.

Friction Farm is guitarist/vocalist Aidan Quinn and bassist/vocalist Christine Stay. They combine storytelling, social commentary and humor to create award-winning songs filled with harmony and hope.

The veteran duo spent much of traveling and reading for their latest CD projectI Read Your Bookan original song collection based on books that they have procured from friends and other sources of recommendation. They were inspired by true tales. The Voyage of the Beagle and fictional works. The Cellist of Sarajevo, for example. They bring books to swap to all of their gigs.www.frictionfarm.com.
