Call for Nominations: West Virginia’s Promise 2014 Red Wagon Award

West Virginia’s Promise-The Alliance for Youth is accepting nominations for the tenth annual Red Wagon Award. The award is given to an outstanding organization devoted to improving the lives of young people by providing the Five Promises: Caring Adults, Safe Places, A Healthy Start, An Effective Education and Opportunities to Help Others. The deadline for entries is June 2 , 2014. Nomination information and submission form are available at www.fivepromises.wv.gov/red-wagon/Pages/default.aspx

“WV’s Promise is dedicated to enhancing and improving the lives of our young people,” said Pam Dugan, director of West Virginia’s Promise – the Alliance for Youth. “The Red Wagon Award is another way of supporting our vision to ensure that every young person in West Virginia receives the Five Promises.”

Children who receive at least four of the Five Promises are more likely to succeed academically, socially and civically. They are more likely to avoid violence, contribute to their communities and achieve high grades in school.

The 2014 West Virginia’s Promise Red Wagon Award winner will be presented during the Faces of Leadership Conference on July 30, 2014 at the Charleston Civic Center. The winner will receive recognition at the Governor’s Service Awards Banquet.
