Studio M Salon & Boutique hosts 4th annual Pink Carpet Affair fundraiser
Studio M Salon & Boutique is hosting its fourth annual Pink Carpet Affair on Apr. 26 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 231 W. Washington St. All proceeds from the fashion show fundraiser benefit local breast cancer fighting efforts – and this year’s event promises to yield an even bigger payout.
Owner Missy Grove, who launched Studio M in June 2007 and added the clothing boutique in 2013, said the event has gotten larger as it has gained momentum each successive year. This year’s fashion show will be held under a tented runway – erected on the adjacent Lawrence Street – with reserved seating options, refreshments and a DJ. As a result, admission tickets are scaled this year to provide attendees with a variety of experiences.
The “Fashonista” ticket, priced at $25, provides guests with event entry and a standing room only view of the fashion show.
The “Super Model” ticket, priced at $50, provides guests with event entry, a VIP shopping preview, and second tier seating for the fashion show.
The “Haute Couture” ticket, priced at $100, provides guests with event entry, a VIP shopping preview, two swag items, first tier VIP seating for the fashion show and a Pink Carpet digital photo.
“Fashion show apparel will come from the boutique with 10 to 15 women from the community modeling the merchandise on the runway,” said Grove. “My team and I are busy selecting outfits from our spring lines, which are diverse. Anna Sokel from Sokel Makeup & Skin Care is helping to train the models on all runway matters. Studio M will be styling hair for the models and doing their makeup, another area Anna will pitch in. Candice Mumaw Gustines from the studio Captured by Candice will also be taking professional photos at the event. She has done a beautiful job for us every year.”
“I’m excited to offer the early preview for some of our ticketholders,” added Grove. “This means they can shop for new merchandise before the show, much of which I will be putting out for the first time. After the show, anyone can shop for items they saw on the runway, or that are for sale in the boutique.”
As in year’s past, proceeds from a Pink Carpet Affair will benefit local breast cancer fighting efforts, including the Mountain Mommas Avon Walk for Breast Cancer team. “I have been pleased to give a donation to the Mountain Mommas every year. In addition, my friend Anne Milton, who is 38, just had breast cancer surgery and is undergoing chemotherapy, is planning on coming and I hope she will be well enough to speak,” said Grove.
“Although it’s heartwrenching how breast cancer affects people, it’s nice we can come together and have a night to benefit and recognize the realities of the disease,” she added. “I love all the pretty fluffy stuff about this event, but I don’t want people to forget the reason we do it.”
Tickets are on sale exclusively at Studio M and are non-refundable. More tickets are available due to the increased venue size, but are still limited to 150.
Grove said Studio M is seeking sponsors for the event. “We are hoping businesses will join us in sponsoring this worthwhile fundraiser. Sponsors will benefit from all advertising and promotional efforts, including ads, posters, social media, and banners plus our website promotion, which will stay up the entire year under our Pink Carpet Affair page,” she said. Interested parties can contact Grove for specifics.
With a solid background in fashion and hair styling, Grove began her lifelong dream to provide total makeovers in January 2006 when she started Stylemaker Image Consulting. In June 2007, she opened the doors to Studio M, allowing her to provide multiple services in her signature style all under one roof. In September 2010, she launched Studio M Salon & Spa, expanding her service offerings and staff in a new location in her native Charles Town. In 2013, Studio M added an on-site boutique and the online store.
