Cut To The Chase Film Festival deadline for submissions: June 9

The deadline for submissions is quickly approaching for Cut To The Chase Film Festival. Entries will be accepted for this year event until June 9. Film makers are encourage to use any device that has the potential to make a short film that is eight minutes or less including credits. There are no monetary restrictions. Films must be made specifically for Cut To The Chase Film Festival and use the key element. This year the key element is “Vice”. The film does not have be about vice, its as easy as including the word in the dialogue or capturing an image featuring the word vice, as in a poster of magazine cover. Films that are accepted will be screened throughout the weekend of the festival, which begins on July 11th with a Premiere Party to be held at the Entler Hotel in Shepherdstown. The judges for this year’s event are award winning Photographer, Hali Taylor. Hali and longtime resident and Director of the Shepherdstown Public Library is well known for her ongoing photo essay “On The Wall” a project which features the people of Shepherdstown. Lawrence Cumbo, producer, director and film maker, will be joining again this year. His latest film debut on the Smithsonian Channel ” Rockin The Opera House Live” featuring Dr. John. The third judge is John Nakashima who has over 30 years experience as a film maker at WV Public Broadcasting and was recently chosen as WV Film maker of the Year. The judges will view the film together for the first time on Saturday, July 12 at 7 p.m. at the historic Shepherdstown Opera House. Two prizes will be awarded during the festival Best Film and Fan Fave. Winners will receive a cash prize and custom designed trophy created by artists Scott Cawood.
